Preventative Dentistry (General)

We recommend everyone receive a professional cleaning, oral cancer screening, and exam at least every 6 months and those who have had periodontal disease diagnosis, more frequently than 6 months.Even if you take excellent care of your teeth and gums at home, you still need to see your dentist regularly. Regular visits with Dr. Afshari will include checking for problems you may not even feel, such as cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer. Many of these dental problems don’t become visible or cause pain until they are in more advanced stages.

Cleanings
Regular cleaning and maintenance of your teeth are critical to keep your mouth healthy and your teeth strong. We make it easy for you and provide a great experience when you come see us.

Deep Cleanings
Early gum disease treatment may include tooth scaling, known as deep cleaning, in addition to a cleaning at three-month intervals along with use of medicated mouthwash and proper flossing. Later-stage gum disease treatment may include deep-plane scaling, periodontal surgery, and laser surgery, followed by more frequent cleanings to prevent future damage.

Inlays/Onlays
This procedure provides a long-lasting and cosmetically-pleasing covering to a tooth with decay or other structural damage. Dr. Afshari prepares the tooth, removing any unwanted structure, and then takes impressions which are used by the lab to make the permanent covering that is fitted to match your tooth precisely. While the lab is creating your permanent inlay/onlay, your tooth will be covered by temporary filling or temporary crown materials. At Fair Oaks Quality Dental, we will provide you with a high quality, long-lasting inlay/onlay that will create a beautiful smile for you.

Fillings
Dental fillings are used to repair damage to the structure of a tooth or teeth. Structural damage can be caused as a result of tooth decay, wear, or trauma. After Dr. Afshari removes the problematic tooth structure, the tooth can then be restored with composite resin (white filling). Each filling material has advantages and disadvantages. Dr. Nahid will be happy to discuss the best option for you.

Crowns
Crowns repair extensively decayed or damaged teeth. They can be made of gold metals, silver metals, porcelain or a combination of porcelain and metal. The tooth is prepped for the crown in the first appointment, where the preparations, or molds, are sent to the dental laboratory to be created. Once the final crown is sent back to the office, it is permanently sealed on by Dr. Afshari with special cement.

Bridges
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth. Teeth on both sides of a space are used to anchor the bridge in order to restore function and esthetics. Dr. Afshari uses only the best dental labs to produce beautiful, natural restorations.

Implants
Dental implants are artificial tooth root replacements used in dentistry to compensate for tooth loss. The result promotes not only an enhanced smile, but also a more youthful appearance, since missing teeth cause the face to collapse, making you look older.

Night Guards
DNight guards are removable dental appliances carefully molded to fit the upper or lower arches of teeth. They are used to protect tooth and restoration surfaces, and stabilize the jaw joints during occlusion.
